HANDFASTING

HandFasting is a beautiful, visual ritual and can be done in a number of different ways,  we have all heard the expression ‘tie the knot’ or ‘to take each other’s hand in marriage’ these sayings stem from the Handfasting ritual.

At your ceremony a fasting cord or sash is tied round both your hands while the celebrant recites the words and vows you have chosen to declare and bind your love. This is followed by your choice of a beautiful Hand Fasting Blessing.

Often couples choose to include their children in the ceremony where the families’ wrists are tied ‘binding’ them together, or when two families are coming together, to ‘seal the deal’

The cords can be made or bought and include very personal elements such as; a family tartan, fabrics with significance and trinkets or small charms can be added into the cords.

Handfasting can be your entire ceremony or a mini version can be done within your ceremony , but whichever you choose this is a powerful, heartfelt ritual for everyone to enjoy.
